Restore purchases
Your Catch Book Pro subscription belongs to your Apple Account, so it usually turns on by itself on a new iPhone or after reinstalling. If it doesn’t:
- Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
- In Catch Book, open Settings > Catch Book Pro > Restore Purchases.
- If it says no subscription was found, check Settings app > [your name] > Subscriptions to see whether the subscription is active on that Apple Account.
iCloud backup and restore
Catch Book backs up your catches and photos to your own iCloud Drive automatically a few seconds after each change, and keeps dated backups so you can go back.
- Turn it on: iPhone Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive on, and make sure Catch Book is allowed to use iCloud Drive.
- Check or back up now: in Catch Book, Settings > Backup & Restore. It shows where the backup is and when it last uploaded. Tap Back Up Now any time.
- New iPhone or reinstall: on first launch Catch Book offers to Restore Your Catches. You can also go to Settings > Backup & Restore > Restore from Backup.
- Brought back something you deleted? Restore from Backup lists dated backups. Pick one from before the delete; it shows what it will add, and it never creates duplicates.
- Restoring is always free and never limited by the free-catch count.
Where backups are in the Files app
Open Files > Browse > iCloud Drive > Catch Book > Fish Tracker Backup. You’ll see FishTrackerBackup.json, a previous copy, and the Photos and History folders. On a Mac, look in Finder under iCloud Drive > Catch Book. (A new folder can take a few minutes to appear on other devices.)
Please don’t edit or rename these files; the app manages them.
Cancel a subscription
- Open the iPhone Settings app, tap [your name] > Subscriptions, then Catch Book Pro.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. (In Catch Book, Settings > Catch Book Pro > Manage Subscription opens the same screen.)
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you keep all your catches after that. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com; refunds are handled by Apple.
Weather or tides not loading
- Check your connection. Weather, tides, and water temperature need internet. Offline, you’ll see “Offline – enter environmental data manually”. Fill them in yourself or edit the catch later.
- Check location. Conditions are looked up for the catch location. Allow location for Catch Book in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, or enter coordinates manually.
- Tides and water temperature come from the nearest NOAA station along the Florida and Gulf coasts, within about 100 miles. Elsewhere these fields stay empty. Some stations report tides but not water temperature.
- Weather comes from Apple Weather. If it’s briefly unavailable, try again in a few minutes.
Free catches
Catch Book includes 5 free catches. Every catch you log counts, including ones you delete later, so deleting doesn’t free up a slot. Editing and restoring don’t count. Catch Book Pro removes the limit.
